Psykologisk.no – Scandinavian Psychologist (ISSN 1894-5570) is an open-access journal sponsored by the Norwegian Society for Psychological Science.
Instructions to authors are available in English and Norwegian.
The word «psykologisk» means psychological. Our aim is to disseminate science-based psychological knowledge to the general public in Nordic countries, and to publish original research and professional articles of interest to the research community and the applied fields.
In addition to the broader population, our target audiences are researchers and practitioners in psychology and in related fields, users of psychological services, as well as current and future students.
Scandinavian Psychologist is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and is listed in SHERPA/RoMEO, the Directory of Open Access scholarly Resources – ROAD, as well as the Norwegian Register for Scientific Journals, Series and Publishers – NSD.
Launched in 2014, Scandinavian Psychologist became the first open-access scientific journal in general psychology in the five Nordic countries Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. With an average of 34 371 sessions and 26 502 unique users per week in 2019, according to Google Analytics, Psykologisk.no – Scandinavian Psychologist has grown to be one of the most popular psychology websites in Northern Europe.
The journal covers all areas of psychological science. We accept empirical and theoretical research papers, review articles, and professional updates, in English and Norwegian. We also publish popular science articles, essays, and op-ed pieces.
Our peer-reviewed articles are indexed by a growing list of international databases (CrossRef, Google Scholar, Norart, Retriever, SciLit, Scopus, and SveMed+), and shall be stored in historic archives, in accordance with standard open-access practice.
Unlike many open-access journals, Scandinavian Psychologist does not charge authors to review, edit, and publish their articles. We base our revenue on advertisements and grants. Hence, the journal is free of charge to authors and readers alike.
We have received funding from The Research Council of Norway and The Bergesen Foundation, one of Norway’s largest private philanthropic organizations.
Our ultimate goal is to be of service to the psychological community as a whole, and to stir an interest in, and appreciation of, psychological science in the general public.
The Editor-in-Chief is Pål Johan Karlsen, who holds a PhD in psychology and is affiliated with the University of Tromsø – the Arctic University of Norway.
